Andean Black Premier, Colombian Organic Black Tea

4 reviews

An exceptional organic Colombian black tea with an intriguing flavor profile and a refined smoothness that will not disappoint. Expertly crafted by our friends at the Bitaco Tea Estate located on the western slope of the Andes mountains. The tea is grown in rich volcanic soil at elevations of 1,800-2,000 M.  Bitaco has been growing and manufacturing tea for over 50 years but in 2013 they collaborated with Darjeeling tea growers to change their manufacturing processes which has resulted in the production of some very fine teas.

DRY TEA: Long, dark grey wiry leaves with moderate tips. Clean and uniform reflecting a high quality picking. Aroma of chocolate and dark raisins with hints of pepper.

INFUSION: Dark mahogany leaves with a nose of blackberry, cacao and white pepper.

CUP: A rich russet liquor with notes of cacao, caramel and roasted nuts. Silky smooth.

1 level tbsp or 2 gm per 8 oz cup

My Favorite

The Andean Black Premier is hands down my favorite tea from Happy Earth Tea. It has an amazing aroma that doesn't get covered up by the tannins inherent in dark black teas, and it makes the perfect breakfast tea for those who think English breakfast is too mild but Irish breakfast too tannic. This Colombian tea has beautiful flavor!!

Andean Black Premier

I bought several of your teas for my husband in the summer when I was visiting in Rochester. He is a real tea connoisseur. He has a tall cupboard full of teas from around the world. When he had finished the teas in October , he was pining for some more and even though the postage to Canada is atrocious- I tool pity on him and ordered some more. The smile of contentment on his face over his morning cuppa was all worth it. I think it is the care with which you prepare your teas that comes through in the taste of your teas. PS I ordered myself some of your Spring Sonata which I adore as well.

An Unexpected Favorite!

This is a very smooth black tea with a subtle hint of nuttiness and caramel. It's great for a morning or afternoon pick-me-up, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it the past few weeks!
