This is one of the earliest 2020 organic black tea from Yunnan, China. Lighter in body than our regular Yunnan Gold tea, the smooth dark tea has lovely floral and chocolaty notes.
DRY LEAF: Well picked, wiry and full of golden tips with a mix of sweet floral and wheat fragrance.
WET LEAF: Dark woody color with a floral-fruity nose. Almonds, rose, apricot and some of the notes.
CUP: Amber liquor with an aroma of cacao, slight malt and dark honey notes. On the palate you get mid-to-heavy body with notes of chocolate, light tannins, and flowers. It is brighter and slightly lighter than our regular Yunnan Gold tea.

This is, quite literally, one of the best Yunnan teas that I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. It is sweet with notes of chocolate and caramel, as well as an apricot fruitiness. There are pronounced, wonderful floral notes - Almost roselike. I also detected a subtle hint of almond. I would definitely describe this Yunnan tea as Darjeeling-esque in both aroma and taste - The love child of a Yunnan and Darjeeling if you will. A single steep with a water temperature of 200-203F for four minutes worked best for me. This tea will be a permanent item of my tea pantry for sure! Happy Earth Tea has the fastest shipping I have encountered. I can’t wait to try the generous sample of Colombian tea they included with my purchase. Thank you Happy Earth!
I usually go for oolongs, but I tried this tea because I was looking for something I wouldn't feel guilty about brewing western-style when I am pressed for time in the mornings, and it blew me away! Somehow, this tea has some of those same salty, creamy, roasted notes of my favorite oolongs combined with the warm caramels of black teas that I like. Highly recommended!
Nice tea. Light.
