A spring picked organic Darjeeling black tea from Sungma tea estate with an elegant fruity-floral character. Smooth, elegant and refreshing.

LEAF: Short and wory chinary leaves with a dark green hue and a grassy floral aroma.
WET LEAF: The leaves turn olive green and brown. The nose is an uplifting bouquet that sweet, floral and ripe peach.
CUP: The liquor has a bright golden appearance with earthy and peach aroma. The mouthfeel is smooth, elegant with notes of peach, grass, green mangoes, sugarcane and geranium. It has a briskness of a good spring tea and lingering sweet finish.

Delightful Mirik Valley First Flush

This 2021 Sungma Garden First Flush tea is a great and sophisticated tea. Even though I bought it in December 2021, Happy Earth clearly knows how to store their teas properly because it has a perfectly fresh taste. The leaves are big and fluffy, and full of flavor notes ranging from the floral to citrus to malty, which change depending upon the amount used, and steeping time. In fact I would say that this particular tea is particularly sensitive to these variations. I must add that I prefer to use boiling water rather than lower temperatures for this and many other teas. The 2021 Sungma is a bit more robust than my recollection of Sungma from some years back, which I think is a good thing. Sungma has always been somewhat delicate to the point of being ethereal, but this harvest gives it an added boldness that makes a more three-dimensional tea .
