Himalayan Green Tea Meets the Ocean

It is always exciting to receive reviews from our customers. Tea is a personal experience – as someone rightly described, each cup is a voyage - so descriptions of the same tea by different people can vary. And, that enhances our own experience of the cup.

Lisa Lynn is one of our regular customers – who is now become a dear friend. She often leaves behind reviews of our teas. They are always beautifully written and evocative.

Here is her recent review of our Himalayan Green, a green tea (summer 2015) from Jun Chiyabari tea garden, Nepal. “This sublime Himalayan green starts with a round, almost buttery feel, cedes to a light sweetness, and finishes dry. It is a green that is suitable for any time of day. I am curious if anyone else finds the infused leaves have a fragrance that is reminiscent of an ocean breeze...”

The last sentence was a wonderful hook. It inspired us to create an ocean “mandala” for our morning tea at our Tea Studio. The shells were collected by Mary during her travels around the world more than 10 years ago.

The mandala made up of shells from different shores seemed happy to be held together by tea. A harmonious union between the mountains from where this tea had come, and the ocean in the form of the shells had been reached.  Now we could sit back and appreciate the tea more joyfully and smell the ocean breeze!
