Today, we have a very special new tea, Himalayan Sunshine, for you! This tea was produced earlier this spring by Jun Chiyabari tea estate (Organic), our partners in Nepal who are incredibly committed to crafting exceptional teas while protecting the environment. 

Last week we received an email from Bachan Gyawali, the owner of the farm, updating us about the current status at Jun Chiyabari. We were happy to hear some positive news and we thought of sharing it with you here. I will extensively quote Gyawali because it gives you a sense for what it is like on the other side of the planet - almost the same as it were here. The challenges and the triumphs (there are few but they are there) in a world that has never felt this small before.

It was wonderful to see Nepal tea given a lavish spread in New York Times food section recently. We have been selling Nepal tea since spring of 2014. Our customers and us know that these teas are special and have been enjoying every cup of it for all these years. Happy to be ahead of the curve!

We are happy to announce the arrival of some exceptional second flush teas from the organic tea estate of Jun Chiyabari, Nepal. We have some rare offerings - hand-crafted micro-batches - that won't disappoint.

It is always exciting to receive reviews from our customers. Tea is a personal experience – as someone rightly described, each cup is a voyage - so descriptions of the same tea by different people can vary. And, that enhances our own experience of the cup.

We are really excited to be introducing two exclusive “early Spring” teas from Jun Chiyabari, our Organic tea producer-partner in Nepal. These teas were manufactured in March. Normally, the first flush production for Jun Chiyabari, which is situated between 5000 ft – 6000 ft, takes place only in April.

It was pandemonium at the Indo-Nepal border: long lines of trucks stalled on the Indian side, crowd milling through haywire traffic, groups of angry men yelling, motorists pounding on their horns, determined families dragging their children and luggage, garbage and dust flying all over.

It has been a one complete cycle of tea seasons with Jun Chiyabari Tea Estate this summer. The tea we continue to receive from them, like the one we are reviewing here, tell us introducing Jun Chiyabari to our customers has been one of the best decisions.

Thanks to the generous support of some Rochester residents, we managed to raise just over $3000 at the fundraiser for Nepal earthquake relief. The fundraiser was held last Saturday and was jointly hosted by us and the Rochester Brainery.
