A Beer with Our Tea
When the creative brewers at Abandon Brewing Company based in Penn Yan, NY reached out to collaborate we were honored and excited. “Abandon Brewing is committed to sourcing local fruit for our sour beers, but when out of season we decided to try a tea sour. With that in mind, we wanted to work with a local company and found Happy Earth Tea,” said A.J. Noto owner of Abandon Brewing Company.
The idea of infusing tea in beer was daring and fun! So began the experimentation process of determining which was the right tea and they ultimately landed on Darjeeling Breakfast Tea for this beer venture. Resulting in a delightful Sour Project #6 Kettle Sour Ale infused with a Darjeeling tea that complements this style of brewing. Sour beers tend to be acidic with a tart crisp finish. This sour beer provides a nice balance of sweet and sour flavors in our humble tea opinion. The can label is beautiful and reminds us of our mandala design logo. The mandala can be used as a meditation aid to help achieve balance and harmony. We recommend meditating in the sun with a couple of cans of Sour Project #6 and thinking happy thoughts.
We love to partner with other small, local businesses and this was such a positive and fun way to co-create something for our community. “We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and look forward to working with Happy Earth Tea in the future,” continued A.J. Noto. In Rochester, you can purchase this beer at the Wegmans stores. Or take a trip to their scenic barn and try this special beer or any of the other beers they brew.
