Houjicha is a bancha grade organic Japanese green tea (leaf and stems) that have been roasted. The tea yields a warm nutty cup with notes of cocoa and barley.
The practice of roasting in porcelain vessel over charcoal fire started in the 1920s in Japan. The tea is considered to be lower in caffeine and can be enjoyed during later hours of the day.

Enjoyed this tea very much. Has a light, roasted taste.
Lovely tea and a wonderful company. Always happy to support local. :-)
Speedy shipping and delightful tea :)
Roasted green tea earthiness! This Houjicha is the best I have ever tasted. The flavor is complex; earthy, a subtle smokiness, and the scent is delightful. When I drink this at work, my co-workers stop in their tracks, and come over to ask me what i am drinking!
A great place to learn about tea whille enjoying a cup or two!
