Ceylon Black Tea, Vithanakande Tea Estate

11 reviews

Expertly crafted full-bodied black tea with notes of honey and caramel from the award-winning tea estate of New Vithanakande located in the lush hills of central Sri Lanka.. This pristine environment makes for some lovely tea.

The green leaf for this tea estate is sourced from nearby villagers, numbering nearly 6000. The economic impact of this enterprise is spread throughout the local community.

DRY LEAF: Small soft and wiry leaves, abundantly tippy that smell of dark chocolate and pepper.

INFUSION: Dark brown leaves that have rich fruity and caramel notes.

CUP: A bright amber liquor with notes of dark honey, caramel. Full body, smooth and with a satisfying complexity.

Great, hot or cold

I brew this tea with spearmint leaves to make a delicious iced tea. Highly recommended.

Lovely tea

It is delicious with depth of flavor and caramel. I prefer it with a little milk. Be sure to note that you only need a teaspoon, not a tablespoon! Great addition to our tea selection!

Not my favorite

I thought it was too brisk and it had a black pepper flavor. I enjoy Ceylons on the mild end. I'm looking for one that has a burnt sugar and raisin flavor. Do you have one like that?

Ceylon and Singbulli

Both the Ceylon and the Singbulli are lovely teas, especially nice for afternoon tea.

Excellent Ceylon Quality Tea!

I compared this Ceylon Black Tea to the loose one I buy at a Turkish deli. It's no comparison. I drink this tea almost everyday. Depending on my mood, I like to add organic whole milk.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback Victor. Enjoy the tea and stay well!
