Steinthal, Organic Darjeeling Black Tea, First Flush 2026
Among the historic tea gardens of Darjeeling, few names evoke the romance and heritage of the region quite like Steinthal Tea Estate. Established in 1852 as the very first tea estate planted in Darjeeling, Steinthal remains one of the foundations upon which the world’s understanding of Darjeeling tea was built.
This remarkable first flush - which is another micro-lot that we secured - captures that legacy beautifully.
The dry leaves are striking — green, tippy, and carefully rolled, releasing a fresh spring-like aroma that immediately speaks of the new harvest. Once infused, the cup glows with a delicate light golden liquor, elegant and luminous.
The flavor is refined and layered. Notes of fresh sweet peas and green grapes rise gently from the cup, balanced by a lively briskness that gives the tea clarity and lift. A subtle nuttiness unfolds through the middle of the sip, adding warmth and depth beneath its bright floral-green character. The finish is sweet, clean, and beautifully persistent.
There is something distinctly elevated about this tea. Highly recommend.
